December 2023

Dear Francis M. Weston Audubon members and friends,

Reflecting on the past year, I am pleased to observe that your chapter has fully rebounded from the
negative effects of the COVID years, which limited most of our options, activities, and the number of
participants in in-person events. This past year we have returned to a full schedule of events and
activities with gusto and energy.

  • We are holding all of our Membership Meetings in person with programs and technology
    support.
  • We conducted two New Birder classes for 20 students, and Education expanded the curriculum to include a lecture and field trip on backyard birds.
  • We provided a full set of Field Trips, Bird Walks, and Birds and Brew events and increased the number of participants who could register for those activities.
  • We maintained the plantings at Bruce Beach through a long drought period this summer thanks to the diligent efforts of the Center Committee and volunteers.
  • We have kept our members up to date through the work of our Publications, Publicity, and
Website committees providing information by Facebook, Instagram, email, and our
    new.fmwaudubon.org/ website.
  • We continued to work with Audubon Florida on conservation issues that impact Florida and our region.

I certainly hope that many of you were able to participate in one or more of these activities and found increased value in your chapter membership. We are already planning to extend these efforts into the spring and are eager to have you join us. None of the above activities would have been possible without your ongoing financial support. For this we are grateful, and humbly ask you to consider further support of your chapter in your year-end giving. Thank you for your generosity, and Good Birding!

    Sincerely yours,

    Jim Brady, President
